How Deep is Your Well?

How lovely it would be to have our own personal drinking Well? The water at the bottom of a natural source is beautiful. Cool, clear and full of nutritious minerals – untainted by the outside world. Drinking water from a Well such as this would certainly have health benefits for us, I’m sure you’ll agree?

The challenge is getting to the water if there was no outlet. The sides of the Well would most likely be very steep and the deeper one goes, the darker it would get. Quite a scary experience!

The water near the surface may be good, but it would not be of the same standard as the water at the bottom of the well. As the water nears the surface, it can become affected by other contaminates, agricultural chemicals, city waste and other not so healthy additives….

…and so is our relationship with the Lord.

He says to us:
“Come and drink of My Well. The sustenance you will receive, will be pure and life giving. The Well, which I offer you, becomes richer the deeper you go with Me. The Water of Life is so nourishing that not only will it revitalise you, but as you pass it on, it will give life to others”, says the Lord.

“Be washed by the Waters of My word. My Word will make you clean. A cleanliness such like you have never experienced before. Day by day, the waves of my living water will wash over you. Tier upon tier, strength upon strength, My Water will change you. The process of sanctification is not pleasant in the natural, but as I gaze upon you – I see My finished work, complete in Me. Yes – My work in you is complete”, says the Lord. “I see no more sin in you, I see no more heartache or pain in you, I see no more sickness, but as I look at you My child, I see peace, Joy and blessing. Blessing to Me and blessing to those around you”, says the Lord.

“I have placed a desire in your heart to seek Me. A desire that wants you to be more like Me. Do not be afraid of this desire”, says the Lord“. Allow Me to have My way with you. Do not be concerned with those around you who try to pull you away from Me. As you drink of My Well, all those fears will melt away. Take courage and seek the deeper part of My Well. As you go deeper in Me, do not fear that things appear cold and dark. Do not fear that you cannot see clearly with your spiritual eyes, but allow Me to guide you. Trust in Me. I have commanded My angels concerning you”, says the Lord. “I will guard you”.

“There are many around you who drink from the water near the surface”, says the Lord. “You can tell them by their fruit. The water is Water 3tainted and not able to give them the full needs of My relationship with them. They hear with their ears but do not listen. They have eyes but they do not see. They have hearts but only understand what THEY want to understand. All this because they drink from a tainted Well”, says the Lord.

“The more you drink from the deep waters of My Well, the more you will desire Me. My living Well will give you new sight. A sight with which you will see Me as you never have seen Me before. A sight with which you will see My Spirit in you. A new sight with which you will see your sinful nature. Do not fear when you see your sinful nature”, says the Lord, “but trust ME. At that time, trust Me. Do not turn away because of fear and seek the water at the top of the Well – that water will only comfort your flesh, My child.”

“Your reward for trusting and following Me will far outweigh anything this world can offer you. All that you see now will pass away, but that which you drink from My Well, will last forever…”, says the Lord your God.

Our Father is waiting on us to ask Him to take us to the deep part of His Well. Try Him. He is seeking those who want to go to the deeper places with Him. There is a worldly saying which says…”You’ve tried the rest – now try the best…”

Go ahead and ask Him now, right in the midst of your current burden. The darker things seem to get, the more brightly His light will shine in your heart – the deeper the place we drink from, the greater the peace and Joy.

How deep is your Well?

A Timeless Tale – Chapter Twenty

Living a Life in the Kingdom of God – Continued

Utilizing all the Faculties God has given us.

As we discussed in the previous chapter, management of the thoughts in our minds and the resultant habits that these thoughts create, is the very foundation upon which we build our lives in the Kingdom of God on this earth.

Yet, our minds do not operate independently of our souls, bodies and spirits. God created us as compound beings with three interdependent parts:

  1. Body – Our physical being.
  2. Soul – Intellect, emotion and will.
  3. Spirit – Our spiritual wireless link to God.

First and foremost our body is the ‘home’ of the Spirit of God.

This being the case, we can never neglect or ill treat the body. In short, the body must be properly nourished and exercised. Each of us is responsible to maintain this state; no one else is responsible for the well-being of our bodies, but us. “If you abuse your body, God will allow your body to abuse you, even to death”.

For the most part, we are inclined to seek for pleasure with our bodies. We eat and drink to enjoy taste and consider this practise to be quite acceptable, providing we do not overindulge ourselves. Sadly, there are many who do overindulge and either medicate to deal with this condition, or  embark upon food and drink diets. Mostly we favour those diets that lose weight in very short periods, not having reasoned that the overindulgence process probably took place over some months or years and that quick-fix diets will often result in a detriment to our health.

The process of eating and drinking, whilst giving us pleasure, must essentially be a healthy lifestyle diet.

There are many other activities that we use to give pleasure to our bodies that in turn have a negative effect on our health and well being. A common example is spending hours in front a TV set, where both our bodies and minds are in a subjective state. Long periods of sitting, especially if we fall asleep in the process are very negative to our well being.

I’m sure you all know how to take care of your bodies; what is equally vital is to know however, is that your body is home to the Spirit of God. If you neglect your body or treat it with disrespect, you cannot fail to neglect His home.

Apart from obvious good care of our bodies, we need to maintain God’s home as well. The way we accomplish this is to daily express our gratitude for the function and well being of our bodies.

I say daily, but what you will find is that after a daily practice of expressing you gratitude when you enter your prayer/meditation/quiet time, at whatever time you do that; you will begin expressing your gratitude throughout the day.

You will find yourself expressing your gratitude as you perform activities during the day, because you become aware that your sight, hearing, speech, body mobility are all gifts from God, these and many, many more.

Three times a week, during the course of my daily prayer and meditation, I practice what I call my ‘body meditation’.

Starting at the top of my head and extending to the soles of my feet, I tell God how grateful I am for the fact that He has restored my skin to a place of divine health. Next I offer gratitude for my scalp and the new hair follicles’ that He has restored (quite a few of them have vanished over time). Then I go onto that most wonderful of all my organs, my brain, to my skull and skeletal structure and so on, covering every part of this wonderful body He has given to me.

I am a person that enjoys a great state of health and I know this is a result of caring for God’s home. It is a result of conveying my gratitude for my body, all through my day.

In the next chapter, I will illustrate what is scripturally recommended for the successful function of our other faculties.

A Timeless Tale – Chapter Nineteen

Living a Life in the Kingdom of God – Continued

Managing Thoughts in our Minds.

Managing the thoughts in our minds is no picnic. It is an extremely difficult process and takes a great deal of focus and commitment.

In the process of managing thoughts, we have to navigate the minefield of our habits. We humans are creatures of habit. In the course of any twelve plus hour day, we unconscientiously follow many habits.

In her book, ‘Switch on your Brain’, Dr Caroline Leaf deals extensively with the issue of habits and how to separate those habits which are beneficial to the accomplishment of our goals and those habits which block the accomplishment of our goals.

I am a great believer in the process of examining our lifestyles, even to the point of physically listing things like thoughts and habits that we experience in any one day; analyzing the list and then focusing on removing negative thoughts and habits from our minds. Dr. Leaf offers a twenty one day “Detox Plan”, which is a plan to help people get rid of negative thoughts and habits. The Detox plan works on a basis of the fact that habits can be formed and eliminated over a twenty one day period.

I have mentioned in previous chapters, that, in the process of living in the Kingdom of God, here on this earth; God does not wave a magic wand of change, in response to our petitions for His support in us wanting to change our lifestyles. He wants US to use the faculties that He has given us, to bring about the necessary changes we desire in our lives. There is no quick-fix, magic wand solutions to living in the kingdom.

However, I also believe that God wants to coach us in this process.

In my day-to-day living, I call upon God frequently to ‘guide’ me in the many projects, large and small, I undertake. This very article, I am writing now, is as a result of my request for His guidance for me to produce words that will bring about life changing experience for those who read them.

What then are the essential faculties that He has given us as instruments to accomplish the changes that we want to see come about in our lives?

Firstly, there is our body, the magnificent collection of senses, mobility and physical responses to that most superb management system – our brain. Then there is the mind, or as the scripture refers to it – ‘the soul’. The soul consists of the emotion, will and intellect. Lastly there is the spirit, that most excellent device that hooks us up to communication with God.

If you give serious consideration to the power of the above faculties you will realize that the quick-fix, magic wand solution is not only non-existent, but put into the plainest language:  grossly immature thinking.

What we need to do is to take a closer look at the faculties God has given us and how we can best use each one, to keep us on the path of Kingdom Living and the ultimate benefits of health, wealth, peace and power in this life and eternal living in the next.

I will deal with these faculties in the following order:

  1. Body – The importance of our physical body and our gratitude for its function.
  2. Soul – Intellect, emotion and will.
  3. Spirit – The effective use of this vital channel for our communication to and from God.

In the next chapter, I will illustrate what is scripturally recommended for the successful function of the above faculties.

Please share this with your friends – you can never tell whose life might change, eternally, by your obedience to this request.

A Timeless Tale Chapter Fourteen

Chapter Fourteen: Living a Life in the Kingdom of God – Continued

“One thing I’ve learned about relationships is that I tend to become more like the people I spend the most time with”.

Motivational speaker Jim Rohn famously said that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with.

Considering the above statements by people who are generally promoting personal experience and scientific information, we need to accept that if we spend a lot of time with God, we will become like Him and be able to live a life of health, wealth, peace and power on this earth even as Jesus did.

I’m sure that your reaction to the above is: “Spending time with my fellow humans that I can see, touch and hear is straight forward, but what about God whom I can’t see, touch and hear”?

Good question.

Very fortunately, we cannot see, touch or mostly, hear God, because if we did, we would depart this life.

I say ‘mostly’ hear God, because as I mentioned in the previous chapter whilst we will, for the most part, not audibly hear God, He has ways of communicating with us that enable to ‘hear’ what He says.

We will be able to understand the signs that God shows us along the walk of His destiny for our lives as well as ‘hear’ what He tells us, providing we are accustomed to communicating with Him.

Those souls who are born deaf or blind go through training to be able communicate with others. The deaf train to read hand signs that others use in order to ‘say’ words to them. The blind are trained to feel letters in Braille so that they can communicate by touch.

So it is between God and us, we hear supernatural words and see supernatural signs, that only He can interpret to us.

As I mentioned in the previous chapter, the process of communicating with God, is very simple in principle. But at first sight to us, it is impossibly difficult.

Why is this?

Because we need to be trained in what we might refer to as ‘uncommon’ methods of communication, if we want to be able to, as Jesus said, do what The Father shows us and say what The Father says to us.

“God is a spirit and can only be worshiped in spirit and truth”.  If we exchange the word ‘worship’ with ‘communicated with’ we will now more easily begin to understand what is required of us.

My translation: ‘God is a spirit and therefore you can only communicate with Him through your spirit and this must be done in all straight forwardness and sincerity’.

In a previous chapter I explained that we humans are made up of body, soul and spirit. We all understand what body means. Soul is your intellect, emotion and will. Spirit is that part of your being that allows you to communicate with the spirit world, much like your service provider for internet connection.

In chapter Thirteen I gave you a seven point process to follow and one really can’t improve on that.

If you follow this process, in faith and consistency, you will slowly but surely begin to experience two-way communication with God.

Finally, remember the scripture I quoted to you previously:” Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.”

We will continue in the next chapter.

I pray that you receive touchable spiritual upliftment from these words and the way of expressing your gratitude to God in return is to share them with others. You do so by simply mailing this link to them.

A Timeless Tale – Chapter Twelve

Chapter Twelve: Living a Life in the Kingdom of God – Continued

“As a man Thinketh in his heart, so is he”. Prov. 23:7 KJV

In the previous chapter, we discussed the fact that, management of the thoughts in our mind is what will determine what we become in this life and where we will be in the eternal world when our present earthly body dies.

Once we cross the bridge from being unbelievers to followers of God, it becomes obvious to us that in order to grow in our relationship with Him, we need to change the way we previously used to think.

Chapter Eleven: Living a Life in the Kingdom of God

“You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts will take you”.

James Allen –  1864-1912

It is a scientific fact that the management of your thoughts will result in the state of your being and this will be the biggest influencing factor in the direction and outcome of your life, both here on this earth and in eternal living.

Chapter Nine: Entry To and Living in the Kingdom of God

You will recall from the previous teaching that we read in John 3.3-5 that once we become ‘born again’, we can see the Kingdom of God. When we are ‘born of water and The Spirit’ we are able to enter the Kingdom of God.

Good. So you might ask, “Where is the Kingdom of God”?

The Kingdom of God [1]begins here on this earth. It was established by Jesus the Christ and confirmed by His death on the cross.

A Timeless Tale – Chapter Eight

Chapter Eight: Essential Keys to Unlocking the Power of God in this Life.

As a basis for this teaching, let us consider the words of Jesus:

New Living Translation: “For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up“.

New Living Translation: Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me”.

Before I set about explaining the beautiful revelation in the words of these scriptures, I would like to raise a few points that I have mentioned to you in previous chapters.

Hope you don’t feel that I’m repeating myself; but I firmly believe in what my theology teacher told me so many years ago: “Repetitio est mater studioram or Repetition is the mother of studies”.

We must never lose sight of the fact that Jesus was not a ‘Christian’ but in every perfect way, he was a Jew and via Joseph, his earthly father, of the royal line of King David.

The word, “Christian” was born in Antioch in AD 34, and from that time the followers of Jesus were referred to as “Christians”, previously they were referred to as “The Way”.

History also tells us that in the reign of the Roman Emperor, Constantine, in AD 300 there was an alliance formed between the state of Rome and the Christian movement at that time. This was the origin of the Roman Catholic Church.

Born out of this arrangement was the myth that if you follow Jesus and His teachings, you are a Christian. You should now see clearly, that this is not the case.

We can be followers of Jesus and His teachings and choose to join the Christian religion, or we can choose to follow Jesus and His teachings and not be members of the Christian religion. It is a matter of personal choice.

Now, let us get back to the scriptures above.

Jesus points out that nobody can take hold of His accomplishment on the cross and the benefits of Godly power in this life, unless God chooses them to take part in these benefits.

Then He says that the only way to God, in the eternal sense, is by taking hold of the benefits of Godly power through His crucifixion and applying these to our lives, on this earth.

I say it to you once more: no amount of good, kind, gentle or disciplined living in this life on earth; no religious practice or traditionalism can give you what Jesus is saying in the above two scriptures.

Only this will work:

  • God chooses the one’s to whom He gives the benefits resulting from the crucifixion of Jesus.
  • You alone can accept His choosing and apply these benefits to your life on this earth.

Let me explain these two statements in plain contemporary English:

The only reason for God choosing you will be because you want to be chosen. He won’t choose you otherwise. Would you choose to befriend someone whom you know for sure does not want your friendship – no, of course not.

You know you want to be chosen, so you say to God, “Even though I do not fully understand all that I have been told here – I accept.”

Good! Now on this basis you are under way to your new life, drawing to yourself health, wealth, power and peace on this earth and immigration requirements for the life after your body dies.

Congratulations and well done!

I need to explain the issue of, “…I do not fully understand…”

Never in our relationship to God are we ever called to understand. We are only told to accept Him and what He says.

When I was eighteen, I understood everything and was wary of accepting anything.

As I have grown older I understand much less than I did then, but I accept all of what God shows and tells me now.

Another word for this condition is a wonderful gift called faith. Remember my definition: “Faith is believing that something exists even when all my senses say it doesn’t”?

Let me share something else; my faith has led to my trust in God’s plans and this has led to my hope in His promises.

Whilst I will appreciate that you might be a little fuzzy about all of this in your mind at the moment, I feel very safe to tell you that If you have read so far, you are on your way to a glorious life of health, wealth, power and peace on this earth and are booked on the flight to eternity with all your documents in order.

I am going to conclude with the explanation of two last verses of scripture:

New Living Translation: Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

New Living Translation: Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.

For the most part the scripture of John 3.3 has been a password in certain Christian Churches and movements. You may have heard the expression: “You need to be born again if you want to go to heaven”. Nobody could ever give me a reasonable explanation of what ‘born again’ really meant, apart from some very spiritual explanations, that I truly could not understand.

I eventually found that historically speaking, it was during the Azusa Street Revival, Los Angeles, California in 1906 that the expression became the password as the Pentecostal Movement came to know its birth.

In his wonderful book, a Christian best seller, “Born Again” Charles Colson, helped to fuel this password fire to the entire world.

What was even more wonderful for me was the revelation that one cannot use the scripture of John 3.3 without coupling it to John 3.5.

Let me explain to you what this means.

Firstly there are two positions that John speaks about here. The first is ‘see’ and the second is ‘enter’. One cannot enter without ‘seeing’ and one cannot see an entry point without it being there. So these two positions are interdependent on one another.

Let me give you a practical example of this: One day I am piloting an airplane to a city in our country called Cape Town. At ten thousand feet above sea level and the visibility is clear as crystal, I can see Cape Town ahead and in fact even the airport, for that matter. But the motor car below me has at least seventy miles to travel before it reaches Cape Town.

At this point it comes to me; I can see the big city and her airport, I have not entered it. The conditions to entering are another thirty minutes of flying and a safe landing.

Jesus is saying, “You will have to go through the experience of being chosen by God and accepting He has chosen you; then you will be able to SEE that God has got a new life for you on this earth.

When you believe what I did on the cross for you and how it is going to put you on your way to a glorious life of health, wealth, power, peace on this earth and booked on the flight to eternity with all your documents in order, then you have ENTERED.” (my translation)
