Living a Life in the Kingdom of God – Continued
What is God’s Desire?
As mentioned in the previous chapter, this week I would like to discuss the issue of God’s desire.
I spoke about a book that I have been reading:
The book is called, “Conversations with God – An uncommon dialogue”. Authored by Neale Walsch. http://amzn.to/2HorsBQ
God replying to Neale’s question:
“And what is God’s desire?
I desire first to know and experience Myself, in all my glory – to know who I am. Before I invented you – and all the worlds of the universe – it was impossible for Me to do so.
Second, I desire that you shall know and experience Who You Really Are, through the power I have given you to create and experience yourself in whatever way you choose.
Third, I desire for the whole life process to be an experience of constant joy, continuous creation, never-ending expansion, and total fulfilment in each moment of now.
I have established a perfect system whereby these desires may be realized. They are being realized now – in this very moment. The only difference between you and Me is that I know this.
In the moment of your total knowing (which could come upon you at anytime), you, too, will feel as I do always: totally joyful, loving, accepting, blessing, and grateful”.
At first I thought, “This is bizarre, how would God, whom I always understood to be omniscient (all-knowing, all-wise, all-seeing ) want to ‘experience himself in all of His glory’, and to ‘know who I am’’?
It did not make sense to me.
Then it dawned on me. In all of His creation, the universe and especially the earth, the only possible mirror personality of God are human beings.
In Adam and Eve, God could see Himself in a human form. In the resurrected Jesus, God could see Himself in human form, as these were made in His Image.
Being a father of three children, I have always marveled that a little living being came from my loins. In the course of my children’s growth, I could see both physical and character traits, bearing similarity to me, appear in their lives. This means in a small way I can now understand why God would want to know and experience Himself through you and me. After all, we are His supreme creation, the supreme fruit of His loins.
God desires that you and me know and experience who we really are, through the power He has given us to create and experience ourselves in whatever way we choose.
How many of us humans, in the course of history, have asked the question, “What is my purpose in this life”?
The answer is this: Through the gift of God’s power to us, we are able to create. We create ourselves in whatever way we choose and then experience what we have created, just as God created the Universe and then rested, all the while, admiring His creation. You and I will create ourselves in whatever way we choose and then love and admire what we have created.
He desires for the whole of our life process to be an experience of constant joy, continuous creation, never-ending expansion, and total fulfilment in each moment of now.
We all know that as we create a flower garden (remember – we are all creators), part of the process will be preparing the soil, planting the seeds, nurturing their growth and then removing weeds to protect our beautiful and fragrant flower garden.
So it will be with ourselves. We will set about the garden of our lives by preparing a means for our growth, putting the seeds of God’s perfect system into the soil of our lives and then nurturing them to produce healthy growth and finally, protecting our harvest as long as we live.
We will come to understand that we will have to maintain our garden and keep planting new seeds (of God’s wisdom and knowledge) and removing those that no longer grow (those that no longer are useful to our continued growth.
In the moment of your total knowing (which could come upon you at anytime), you, too, will feel as God does always: totally joyful, loving, accepting, blessing, and grateful”.
So, there is our recipe. Our purpose on this earth is: To live in the Kingdom of God on this earth as creators of God’s desires in and for us.
In my 28 year walk with God, I have hungered for this understanding and experience in my life. Such experience as I have received so far, never came to me without great cost, not only to me, but also my family. Today, I have peace in my heart and ‘joy inexpressible’
I shall continue, in the next chapter, to describe what cultivation of the ‘garden of our lives’ means in our day-to-day journey through our lives.
