A Timeless Tale – Chapter Nine

Chapter Nine: Entry To and Living in the Kingdom of God

You will recall from the previous teaching that we read in John 3.3-5 that once we become ‘born again’, we can see the Kingdom of God. When we are ‘born of water and The Spirit’ we are able to enter the Kingdom of God.

Good. So you might ask, “Where is the Kingdom of God”?

The Kingdom of God [1]begins here on this earth. It was established by Jesus the Christ and confirmed by His death on the cross.

In simple terms Jesus established the New Covenant, or confirmed a new agreement[2]  between God and humanity. The new agreement would not change the basics of humanity’s environment, but would change the heart of those humans who wanted a heart change. This heart change would give those who received it: health, wealth, peace and power here on earth and then new life in eternity.

All those that have the new heart, begin to see things that others, who don’t have the new hearts, do not see. They begin to see the peace, power and good of God in everyone and everything they encounter in their daily life.

They begin to physically and mentally behave like God. “How would mere humans be able to behave like God”? You may well ask.

To answer this question, we have to take a trip down memory lane. Back to the earliest teaching, where you witnessed God’s creating of Adam and Eve.

The scripture said that:

New Living Translation So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.[3]

What does it mean, “Created human beings in His own image”?

Adam was created from clay of the earth and Eve, from one of Adam’s ribs. Both the clay and the rib were in actual fact, part of God himself.

So, let us try and describe God. Firstly, what is God ‘made’ of? The best that we humans can do with our, most amazing but finite minds is that God is ‘made’ of formless stuff, or original substance[4]. By the process of thought, this substance can take on a gazillion forms.

An example of one of these forms was Moses and a burning bush.[5]

God is all powerful, He is all-knowing, He is present everywhere all the time.

When God created the universe, as He did with the creation of Adam and Eve, He did so using part of Himself. This means that all things both animate and inanimate have part of God in them.

Jesus stated,

New Living Translation “The Father and I are one.” [6]

What He was saying was, “I have part of the Father inside of me and I am part of His substance”.

If every human is made up of some of God’s substance, then why aren’t we like Jesus?

Simply answered – because we don’t believe, who and what we are.

But, be encouraged, our hope is ahead! Jesus said:

New Living Translation “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. [7]

With this in mind, it’s easier to see now; if we have some of God in us then we are like God, just as Jesus was like God (“I and the Father are one”) it is not difficult to see that we can live like Jesus in the here and now, on this earth.

So we are not only capable of doing all the things that Jesus did in His stay here on earth, but He says we will do even greater things – “because I go to the Father”. How does He go to the Father? He is raised up from the earth and taken into heavenly places:

English Standard Version “…that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places.” [8]

But not only is Jesus raised up (past tense), but so are those who have accepted the new hearts:

New Living Translation “For he raised us from the dead along with Christ (past tense) and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus” [9]

Accepting that we are part of God, who is ‘made’ of formless stuff, or original substance means that we too, providing that we allow God to lead us in everything we do, (because He is ‘in’ or part of, us), will be able to apply the power that Jesus demonstrated on this earth.

Jesus says:

New Living Translation “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. [10]

To the degree that we allow His leading us, because He is ‘in’ or part of us, is the degree to which His power will work through us here on earth (You will recall that in chapter Five, we spoke of living in two bodies and also the three-way wiring system).

Next week we will look at some of the stuff, which could limit your change of heart from producing real results in your life.
